Our response to Covid 19 in 2020
Hi all, Happy Quarantine! Who is totally sick of it? Well here is some good news. I am re-opening for some (unfortunately not all) my kids. Shane and I have spent some time re-thinking how to adapt Wiggles and Giggles to meet the needs of social distancing and disinfecting routines to navigate the rest of the 2020 quarantine. I am going to list these here- if you think I am missing something, please text me so that I can adjust to include. I know that with diligence and mindfulness, we can get through this.
1 We will be doing a health check and taking each child’s temp with a thermal scanner before entrance to ensure fever free as well as no other noticeable symptoms. If your child is sick we must keep them home. Any temp over 100 at this time is considered necessary exclusion and fever free for 24 hours.
2. 6 feet rule- we will rearrange the childcare to encourage social distancing and mostly individual play. This is not forever but for now so that we can continue to lower the risk.
3. We will reduce the amount of toys and rotating daily, because just less for us to clean.
4. Lunch will be broken into 2 different times, so that we can spread the kids out and if the weather is nice we will eat outside.
5. Kids will be supervised during hand washing, using antibacterial soap and washing for 20 seconds. We will be hand washing and sanitizing A LOT.
6. Our primary focus during this time will be relearning healthy habits and exploring interesting and new ways to navigate with social distancing.
7. Masks will be optional- I know that you can probably get your kiddo to wear the mask for periods of time however I cannot see it as effective for little ones with busy hands. I also think the kids need to speak freely. This is their environment and it needs remain as comfortable and accessible as possible. With limited numbers and these measures put in place I believe we can do this without masks.
You can help us minimize risk by keeping unnecessary stuff at home. Please keep blankets and toys home. Or bring a blanket here to stay for now.
If you have ideas to help or feel I may have missed something in this list please text, call or email me, let's all work together to keep our little village safe for everyone.
Nothing in this is a guarantee, and unfortunately we can only take so many protective measures. I cannot promise that your child will not be exposed to Covid 19. I can promise to be diligent in these measures and put these kids first.
I wish you health and good spirits!
